New Welcome Page and new icons

So guys, have you heard the news? No? Then log in and have a look!

New members will certainly be happy to find a new Welcome Page ready to guide everyone to perform the main steps. That’s the best way to start using Panmind!

Let’s see the 5 steps to start using Panmind:

1) First, create a project: you can’t say you understand Panmind until you create and try it’s main object! Creating a project is fast and simple. And if you choose to make a first test, you can create a project project that will be visible only to owner and invited members (recommended if you just want to try). It will be private for you to test it without any fear.

2) invite all your Gmail contacts: simple and quick way to find out people from your Gmail contacts who’s already a member of Panmind and invite the ones that are not members yet.

3) invite people you know by typing their email address

4) upload an image for your profile: in this way everyone will have a face in Panmind

5) add information about you: explain who you are and what are your interests so that we can help you to find the right people to work with!

Let us guide you, it will be easier to understand what is the best way to discover Panmind!

But the Welcome page is not the only news… the most careful of you will notice that icons representing project types have changed: they now represent a folder. It looks like a tiny change, but it’s not!

We decided to use this symbol because a project can be thought as a set of files and content to share with who you want: choosing people carefully or allowing anyone to see it (and so allowing everybody to contribute).

In both cases we think  the folder can be the perfect symbol!

Asking why? Because Panmind is a new way to create file folders on the web, manage and share them, creating social dynamics around the content that you share!

Let’s stop it here, too much talking… the best way to find out what we’re talking about is open up your browser and go to see it!  And as always do not forget to tell us what you think. We are working for you on other big changes, see you soon!

We are growing with you :)

Hi everybody!

These are days of intense work here at Panmind, we are working day… and night!

We are registering a continuous growth in memberships and we are of course delighted, we are growing, we are doing it with you and we want Panmind to become a tool that you can enjoy more each day to work, play, organize your files, manage contents of interest and so on.

Thank you, because with you we explore Panmind’s potential, discovering the may different areas in which you are using it.

There are University groups using Panmind to manage study projects and to publish their results. Who talks about art and culture, those who use it as a way to disseminate information and ideas, who talks about science and technology and so on, and this is only in the public sphere… there is an island of private projects in Panmind… but of course only you know! :)

All this makes Panmind exactly what we want and it’s nice to continue to do it with you!

We wait for your projects, do not be shy and for every comment we’re here or at button ”feedback “ in Panmind!

New on Panmind: The overview!

As we said this is the week of features!
Two days ago we talked about the restricted project and we mentioned the “Overview”.

“Overview” and “Featured contents” column are two new features in Panmind.
We thought and created “Overview” to give more visibility to the project.
The “Overview” and the “Featured Contents” column are the *showcase* of the project, they are the elements that best represent your project. In this way it’s easier, for the Panmind users, to get immediately an overview of the project and better understand the idea.
Select the contents which are considered most important in the “Featured Contents” allows an easier navigation of the project and helps generate discussion and interest in the project’s idea.

Put the contents in “Overview” o “Featured Contents” it’s very easy.
When you create a content, photo, post, videos or etc you can choose to publish it also in “Overview” or in “Featured Contents” or in both of them.

Please let us know what you think about that! Your feedbacks are really precious for us!

New on Panmind: the Restricted project

This is the week of features and bug fixing!

We want to start today by introducing a new great feature in Panmind: the “restricted” project!
In the “restricted” project only the members can work together and decide what contents are private and which public.

The owner, and the admin, of the project decides what content can be highlighted in the overview.
For now in the overview is possible to put only a single item that will characterize the project, it will be the ‘showcase’ of the project.

The admin can also decide which elements to include in the “Feautred contents” column situated on the right side of the project.

Users who want to join the project and collaborate can send a request to the owner by clicking the button on the left side under the cover of the project; then the owner will decide whether to accept or not.

The “restricted” project, is designed for those who want to collaborate with their private projects having the possibility to create visibility choosing what to publish and what not as characteristic elements of the project.

What do you think about the name “Restricted” ? Do you like it or can you suggest us another one?

Tell us what you think!

The new Panmind is out!

As we announced a few days ago, we introduced some big changes in Panmind. Essentially we wanted to change the structure of previous ReS without depriving them of their original nature.
Now in Panmind, you have the possibility to create, manage and promote your projects in two ways:

- privately
- public

As you can see from the screenshot you can now choose the tipology of project (public or private), assign a category and also a cover.
In this way it’s easier to notice your project among the others in the “Explore” mode

Each project has its own feed where you can see the latest activities.
As with the previous ReS is possible to share multiple types of content such as posts, links, photos, video etc

The new strenght of  Panmind, is “Explore“.
Explore is like a “showcase” of all projects within Panmind that can be explored through the categories.
Explore will give greater visibility to your project, you can promote it and share it with other Panmind’s users and much more; and It is always possible to share the contents of the project on other social networks.

We have also completely renovated the look of Panmind and we have made many improvements on the entire platform that we hope you will appreciate.

We hope you’ll enjoy the new Panmind and we waiting for your feedbacks!

The end of Social Media Week

On Thursday afternoon we were preparing to run to the Coffee Emporium for the Happy Networking Hour (Social Media Week Event). It was fun to see Rome as a city of the web this week and it was great fun to participate actively in a social event where meet people who live web every day. Many boys and girls interested to know the innovations of social networking and ready to accept new proposals! Between a drink and a good pasta plate, socializing with representatives of several startup, organizations for young mothers, Girl Geek Dinners and friendly barmen we told about our project, answered questions on the latest news and above all we had further evidence of how beautiful it is to work for those who love to share with others. It’s ever more true, perhaps it is the effect of 2.0 or perhaps 2.0 is a consequence but sharing ideas and moments with others, expressing own opinion, seeking and giving feedback is something that people do with pleasure and it’s very nice! Thanks guys! You make us want to realize more our dream of collaboration and sharing!

Big changes are coming!

We are excited to announce that major changes in Panmind are coming!
We have heard a lot of feedback from our users and we decided to make some changes and improvements. Do you remember the ReS? Well, have not disappeared, but they changed their structure and we want to give you some preview during our presentation at “Happy Networking Hour” event during the Social Media Week!

We waiting for you! Come to visit us on 10th February at Caffè Emporio in Piazzale dell’Emporio 2, Rome, from 18:30 pm.
And don’t forget to register at the event!

Who goes and who comes back

A year of great adventures, development, ideas and challenges! With the support of the entire team, we made the alpha version of Panmind and now we’re setting the beta.
2011, thinking of the team, begins with the return of a developer, Christian: a year ago he left for new adventures. After some experience, also outside of Italy, he wanted to return to Rome in Panmind team because, in his own words “working on a project that is being born is beautiful! everybody can feel protagonist because you can make your contribution in creating something new. And when you are lucky enough to do it with some friends while having fun… bingo!”
Maintaining professionalism and determination in a dynamic, friendly and informal working environment  where the collaboration is maximum is a principle in which we believed right from the start …and here we are all very happy!
This team in addition to creating code also creates great friendships: maybe this is the reason why we miss those who go away and we are happy for colleagues/friends who come back!

For this reason we want to thank for the great professional and human experience lived together Marcello and Ferdinando, who have decided to continue their journey confronting themselves with new experiences! Thanks guys for your significant contribution you gave to the entire team; and thanks to all those who believe in Panmind and help us to grow.. it will always be the greatest treasure!

Google Wave failure may help Google Me succeed

Sharon Gaudin on computerworld.com

Computerworld - Lessons learned from the demise of Google Wave — Google threw in the towel on its first social networking offering this week — could provide the company’s engineers with a chance to come up with a far more viable service, analysts say.

Google announced on Wednesday that it is killing off its collaboration and communication tool about a year after the Google Wave service was launched.

In a blog post yesterday, Urs Hoelzle, Google senior vice president for operations, acknowledged that the social networking service was unable to gain any traction with users.

While Google Wave will be just another failed product by the end of the year, pieces of it will live on in other Google projects, the company said.

And that leads some industry watchers to wonder if Google is cutting bait so its developers can dust themselves off, use some lessons learned and some of Google Wave’s most interesting features to begin work on new social networking product.
